Teeth cleanings, dentist exams, X-rays & more
We recommend coming into the office for a professional cleaning twice per year. During these hour-long appointments, we’ll not only polish your teeth for a squeaky clean feel, but we’ll also look for problems and listen to any concerns you might have.
We like to do basic X-rays once a year. This consists of four digital “bitewing” X-rays. Bitewing X-rays help the dentist detect decay between your teeth or any issues occurring just below your gum line.
Bitewing X-rays don’t usually show the roots of your teeth, so once every five years, we do like to conduct a panoramic X-ray that scans your mouth all the way down to the root tips, the sinuses, wisdom teeth, and the jaw bone.
If we identify any problems with your teeth, we’ll design a treatment plan.
We believe in earlier intervention
Many dentists prescribe a hygienist cleaning twice a year but only do doctor exams once a year. But a lot changes in a year. At Riverpointe Dental, you’ll typically receive an exam by the dentist at each visit – even during basic cleanings.
We like catching problems when they’re smaller. Sometimes, the only difference between a filling and a root canal is the amount of time that has passed since the problem began. If you have a cavity that is ignored, it will likely get bigger, worse, and harder to repair.
